This was the first book I have read in the speculative fiction genre. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The story is told from various characters' points of view, which works well to engage suspense and keep the reader interested. The timeline of the story is occasionally interrupted with engaging reflections from the characters about their past, which helps to explain the history of the land and the reasoning of the characters' decisions. The characters were well developed and relatable, with their own flaws and quirks. The story is well thought out and the plot is interesting. It kept me guessing until the end when all mysteries were resolved and the different points of view are brought together. A real page turner, and the story has stayed with me for a long time. It's an interesting reflection on the ideas of ownership, partnership and loyalty.Product details
